A little snippet of some of my favorite tools, materials, and resources to get started on your creative journey. I’ll be updating this often, so check back regularly!

MURAL SUPPLIES

  • Paint - I typically use interior paints and seal it with an exterior protectant. If the mural is very large, I will use exterior paints solely. I also purchase smaller amounts in the sample jars and quarts for the large background color. If the wall is large and a lot of coverage is needed, I’ll make my decision on the size needed based on the sq footage.

  • Optoma short throw projector + extension cord

  • Chalk or graphite stick

  • When you purchase your paint, ask for some free paint sticks and a key to open your paint cans

  • Paint brushes (I use the ones linked below as well as cheap ones that you can find at Michaels or Blicks) All different shapes are good to have, you never know when you’ll use it!

  • Frog tape - The best tape to keep those straight edges crisp

  • Laser level

  • Deli containers - I use these to store paint that I’ve mixed and prevent it from drying out before I finish the mural. You can also use Glad Press N’ Seal for the smaller amounts that I mix in cups

  • Cover your floors and non-painted walls! I use different methods based on the location. Cloth drop cloths are a must. I layer it with a plastic drop cloth first then lay a sheet of rosin paper and then the cloth. This will prevent anything from seeping through to your client’s floors. Make sure to tape the 2 two layers down!

  • Wagon - a MUST when painting a mural! This helps so much take your supplies in one go!
